Klunk Announces State Grants for Local Fire, EMS

HARRISBURG – Grant funding was awarded to 12 vitally important first responder companies serving the 169th District under the PA Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program, according to Rep. Kate Klunk (R-Hanover).

The funding comes from an ongoing grant program created by the Legislature which is administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) and Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC). Projects eligible for funding include construction or renovation of a fire or ambulance company facility, purchase or repair of equipment, training, or reduction of existing debt.

“Many of our fire and EMS companies are volunteer run. They are supported by people who care deeply about the livelihood and safety of the place they call home,” said Klunk. “These grant awards are just one small way we can show our support for our hard-working first responders, while ensuring they have functioning equipment and the ability to make needed safety upgrades. We appreciate our first responders for their willingness to answer the call of duty. They are critical to our communities.”

Grants awarded within the 169th District are:
• Glen Rock EMS, $15,000.
• Glen Rock Hose and Ladder Co., $14,170.
• Hanover Area Fire and Rescue Commission, $15,000.
• Hanover Area Volunteer Fire and Rescue, $38,815.
• Hanover Borough Fire Department, $15,676.
• Jefferson Volunteer Fire Co., $12,448.
• Penn Township Department of Fire Rescue Services, $15,676.
• Pleasant Hill Volunteer EMS, $15,000.
• Pleasant Hill Volunteer Fire Co., $16,106.
• Rose Fire Co. EMS, $15,000.
• Rose Fire Co. No. 1, $14,815.
• Shrewsbury Volunteer Fire Co., $16,332.
The funding amounts are contingent on the recipients filing their grant agreements with the Office of State Fire Commissioner.
