Moul, Klunk Announce Over $37,000 for Shining Stars Therapeutic Riding Program

HARRISBURG – State Reps. Dan Moul (R-Adams) and Kate Klunk (R-York) today announced a $37,800 state grant to support Shining Stars’ Therapeutic Riding Program. This organization provides structured, healing focused equine activities for Pennsylvania veterans who served in the armed forces, as well as children and adults with special needs.

The award, for which Moul and Klunk advocated, comes from the Veterans’ Support Services Trust Fund grant program administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs.

The grant will help Shining Stars purchase a new horse and tack; provide care for animals; design marketing materials; serve breakfast to veterans; and more.

“Therapeutic riding has proven beneficial to both children and adults who may need help with their mental, physical, or emotional health, or social development,” said Moul. “It builds strength and confidence and helps people overcome obstacles. I am proud to have supported this important grant to aid veterans, which will enable Shining Stars to continue making a positive difference in the lives of the people they serve.”

“Shining Stars does incredible work to support local children and the veterans who selflessly served our nation,” said Klunk. “I am grateful to have this resource so close the 169th District, so residents can access the therapeutic riding program and its many benefits. It was a pleasure to help advocate for this critical grant funding.”

Shining Stars’ President Pam Hoffman said, “We are deeply grateful for this grant from the Veterans Trust Fund, which will enable us to expand our outreach efforts and ensure that our Stars and Stripes Program remains free of charge to all veterans. As a Marine Corps veteran myself, I recognize the critical need for accessible healing and community support for those who have served our country. Shining Stars is honored to have Reps. Klunk and Moul advocate for the services we provide throughout the York/Adams County area.”

The Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs administers the Veterans’ Support Services Trust Fund grant program to help organizations across the Commonwealth deliver programs that enhance quality of life for veterans and their families.
